Anga Haumaru ā-Ipurangi NCSC NCSC Cyber Security Framework

All public service departments need to use a cyber security framework in order to meet their mandatory obligations under the Protective Security Requirements. 

 

We have developed a framework to organise the cyber security activities of the NCSC, but this can be used by organisations in any sector. It is intended to be useful to companies, other government agencies, and not-for-profit organisations, regardless of their focus or size.

Ngā mana whakahaere Critical Controls

The NCSC’s Critical Controls are designed to help larger businesses and organisations decide where best to spend their time and money on cyber security protections. They have been developed based on data and insights we receive from reports and international threat feeds. 

 

These Critical Controls are reviewed regularly and when correctly implemented, would prevent, detect, or contain most of the attacks we’re seeing.

As part of our Government Chief Information Security Officer (GCISO) mandate, we have developed Minimum Cyber Security Standards. They are designed to focus on the basics and create visibility and uptake of good cyber security practices.

This section contains both technical and non-technical cyber security guidance for large organisations and government agencies.

 

The guidance aims to help decision makers and IT specialists protect their systems, data and customers from cyber security threats and attack.

 

It also contains joint guidance that the NCSC has released along with its local and international partners.
